About Deepdene Surgery

A local general practice on Whitehorse Road, caring for families in Melbourne's inner east.

Deepdene Surgery is a general practice where independent GPs and visiting practitioners work under one roof. Our aim is simple: to give every patient care that is respectful, thorough and connected, whether you're here for a quick check-up or ongoing support.

Our story

Part of the Deepdene community

Deepdene Surgery is an established general practice in Melbourne's inner east. The independent GPs who consult here bring many years of experience, and can help with all your ongoing health needs, whether that's long-term continuity of care or a short-term illness.

Today, seven GPs consult here, looking after patients from Deepdene, Balwyn, Kew, Canterbury and Surrey Hills. They're supported by the practice nurses and admin team, and by a visiting psychologist, dietitian, geriatrician and surgeon.

The doctors have a well-equipped treatment room for minor procedures and urgent assessments. Our nurses help with wound dressings, vaccinations, chronic disease management and health assessments.

You'll find us at 71 Whitehorse Road, close to the Deepdene shopping strip. Street parking is available.

How our practice works

Independent GPs, one shared home

The doctors and allied health professionals at Deepdene Surgery are independent practitioners. Each GP runs their own practice from our surgery and sets their own fees, while sharing our rooms, practice nurses and reception team.

For you, this means:

  • Choice

Pick a GP whose interests and approach suit you, and see them again over time.

  • Transparent fees

Each GP's billing information is available before you book.

  • Care in one place

Visiting practitioners in psychology, dietetics, geriatric medicine and general surgery consult here each week.

Our values

What guides our care

Respect, quality medical care and teamwork are at the heart of Deepdene Surgery. Here's what they mean in practice.

  1. Respect

We listen, take the time to understand your concerns, and involve you in decisions about your care. Your privacy and dignity matter to us at every visit.

  2. Quality medical care

Our care follows current clinical guidelines, and the practice is independently assessed against national standards through AGPAL accreditation.

  3. Teamwork

The GPs, visiting practitioners and practice staff work together so your care stays connected, from referrals to test results.
